Recruiting

The CO or XO is able to recruit

A squad leader is to recruit for his squad only.

Tryouts consist of 2 stages. The first being a premade sim designed to test the practical rp and combat ability of a potential recruit. Sims are ran in pairs however if a lone trooper wishes to try out he may pull someone else from the ship to run it with them. Said person cannot be an RC. The sim should be difficult, several droids with perfect accuracy and >2800 health.

Several Different weapon types are included

Cadet Stage

Cadets are seen in two stages, Unarmoured and Armoured. There is no set time limit on how long a cadet will stay unarmoured/ as a cadet and any promotion should be up to the squad leader. Cadets average two weeks per stage however that time may be increased or decreased depending on performance. If a cadet is not up to scratch and shows no sign of improving then they should be booted from RC.

Specializations

Upon passing the preliminary cadet stages and joining a squad, a commando will be expected to pursue a specialization. Each squad should have one each however, some commandos will take up double roles (Fixer being tech and medic). A new commando should be allowed to choose the specialization as long as it doesn’t come to the detriment of the squad.

Most commandos will have a primary and secondary specialization and any training should be given by an already trained commando, such as a squad leader.

Any and all RP carried out by squad members is expected to be in-depth and creative. If you have any issues coming up with rp ideas, contact another veteran RC and they will be happy to give some pointers. You are encouraged to come up without of the box rp but please, check with your squad lead first before blowing up a building or shutting off a generator.

Main Specialisations

Leadership - This specialization is a role a squad lead must achieve, non-squad leads are able to pursue this specialization on specific terms. This shows you are trained to not only lead a squad but also fully qualified in all of the other roles. As a squad lead, you may have to pull up any slack if not working with a full squad. If a squad leader has a full squad on mission then he should retroactively assist other squad members when applicable, or otherwise delegate roles to the squad.

Demolitions - Otherwise known as “Heavy”. They will be tasked with detonations, bomb defusal and all explosive rp needed both on ship and off. Training for demo consists of a bomb defusal sim and then an “rp test”. The bomb defusal sim will likely be much more in-depth than anything encountered on events, and the rp test will be used to determine how a heavy would use his explosives in a number of scenarios. Explosive experts should be able to rp setting up and defusing bombs for appropriate scenarios, using the right type of explosive (not a small det charge for knocking down a building)

Technical - Once an RC completes his “Fixer” training they will be called upon to deal with any and all slicing rp the squad needs. This could be pulling data, wiping hard drives, setting up comms links or hacking doors. Tech training will be carried out in a similar manner to previous specs, with both an rp side and an sim to complete.

Medical - One of the arguably most important roles, and also one of the rarest. Full medgear will be provided. A potential medic will be taken to the medbay to run through training with a qualified medcorps trooper. Vic will then run you through a sim designed to test the skills.

Recon - Recon commandos specialize in stealth and information gathering. They will, at times, be granted access to more advanced sniper rifles and binoculars. Preferably teamed in sniper pairs they can provide long-range support for the main squads. Training is given on a specific map, a sniper sim will be ran and at the conclusion you will be told if you gained your recon spec.

Comms - The newest and simplest specialization. This one is normally given to cadets who have otherwise not gained a full spec in something else. The main role is to keep in contact with the main force. As commando squads are normally given separate tasks to the main group this RC will feedback any info the squad leader tells them. This allows for a higher level of combat effectiveness, as we won’t have 6 commandos typing back the same info. It allows lets the new cadet get a feel for properly communicating in character.

Radio channel

Once a trooper passes tryouts they will be given the RC radio channel. You are to join this channel every time the map changes, regardless if you are the only commando on or not. If a commando radio checks, you should acknowledge (“copy that”). When a squad lead checks comms ALL active RC are expected to radio check, no exceptions. The radio is used frequently both on and off ship, we have multiple troopers who don’t/can’t use mics and we need to be able to stay in contact at all times. The cadet will be given a temporary callsign to use in the radio channel, this callsign will be decided by whoever interviewed them. The callsign will not change until they reach the rank of PVT, at which point it will change to reflect their assigned squad.

Eg.

(Cadet) - /radio Yuri 14: Copy

(Full RC) - /radio Cobalt 14: Copy

Proper Behaviour

All RC are expected to behave seriously on mission as even an unarmoured cadet can reflect badly upon RC as a whole. If you are found to be boasting your position over non-RC then punishments will be dished out. Repeated unacceptable behavior can result in demotions and then eventually kicked from the battalion.
